Using the XS1100 Dipstick

Middle gear / final gear measurement:

Place the bike on the centre stand on a level surface.  The engine should be cool ( at atmospheric temperature).  Allow 2 minutes for oil to drain to bottom of cases.

Remove the oil filler plug using an allen key.  Check the oil with level gauge (from toolkit) as shown.  The correct oil level is between the two marks on each end of the level gauge. Use the end marked "Middle" for measuring the middle gear case  .Use the end of the gauge marked "Rear" for measuring the rear (final) gear case.

Replace oil filler plug and tighten securely.
